Seriously?
Leggings are not pants! PUT SOME PANTS ON. Leggings and tights have become a sad excuse for girls to not wear pants, and I think it's ridiculous.

Plus...aren't you cold? I know when I wear leggings under a dress or something, my legs are still freezing!
11/21/2008 - amen.
11/25/2008 - THIS

Furthermore, how are tights not indecent exposure? How is not wearing anything over them even legal?
11/27/2008 - People hate on leggings too much.
If you are fat, then stay away from them. Other than that, they aren't that bad as long as they don't have lacy details and the like.

And I personally have cold gear leggings that are designed to keep me warm when it does get cold. I'm sure others do to.

People get too worked up over this. The real disaster is shorts and skirts over leggings.
12/16/2008 - This isn't a fashion complaint, it's a simple fact: LEGGINGS ARE NOT PANTS!

Putnam County
Got a speeding ticket today. 19 over (EVERYONE speeds through there)
$210.

steep? Hell yes.
apparently Officers must write tickets for infractions of 15mph over the limit (it was 55, I was apparently going 74- its easy for your car to get away from you there, long single lane roads)

I may have been in the wrong, but I am livid, and cannot afford this.
(go ahead with the 'you shouldn't have been speeding advice, it will almost fall on deaf ears. I was driving maybe 5mph faster than other drivers. I realize the stupidity, I'm just pissed, especially since I've been pulled over there before for DRIVING TOO SLOW, and accused of drug use, which of course was totally unfounded.)

I HATE middle Georgia!
11/19/2008 - I'm convinced that traffic cops have some sort of major complex wherein the only place they can find joy in their jobs is by having it in for other people.

Honestly, I feel bad for them because chances are they never wanted to be a traffic cop. Doesn't seem like there's anything too great about it...
11/23/2008 - It's kinda like getting pulled over in Arcade. We all get pulled over at stupid speeding traps. It's part of what funds small counties. Sorry, dude. It sucks. I try to stick to 10 over.
11/25/2008 - I've also gotten a speeding ticket for going with the flow of traffic. Some people were even passing me. The cop also decided to write it for 10 miles over what I was actually doing.

So I'm not going to tell you not to be mad over a speeding ticket.

To My Friend on The Elevator
I said, "Excuse me." I had to get off at that floor. You* stared, and did not move.

I thought maybe you had not heard me. I repeated myself, hoping this time you would kindly move out of the way.

You did not.

So don't look surprised and outrageously offended when I have to physically PUSH YOU out of the way to get off the elevator and to my class. Stop being an idiot.

*You refers to anyone that does this, as it has happened to me more than once.
11/17/2008 - This can apply to bus stops as well. Even when the bus is crowded, you can still move somewhat so that people can get off at their stops. Stop being so self absorbed people!
11/17/2008 - Additionally, when the elevator doors open and someone is waiting for you to get the hell off so they can get on, have the common courtesy to hustle along. What do you think I'm standing there for?! It's not to listen to your inane dribble.
11/17/2008 - You're so right! I should have included that in the original post. I'm so glad I'm not the only one that thinks this stuff...

Help: Ur Doin' It Wrong
You* ask me for help. You KEEP asking me for help. But you ignore everything I say.

If you just wanted to complain about a problem, that's cool. We all need to vent sometimes (hence this site) but you ask for HELP. That implies that you actually want me to provide some input on how to solve the problem. So why do you talk over my suggestions?

On the flip side, why can't I get an answer to the question I asked? At best I get a response vaguely related to the topic but doesn't address the question. At worst I'm completely ignored.

Is it me? Should I give up on communicating with people altogether?

*You refers to more than one person.
11/15/2008 - You (meaning one person) must not be from around here.If you want to imply that you are speaking to more than one person, the correct word is "ya'll."
11/16/2008 - It's "y'all" for you and all. Y'all.
11/16/2008 - I was attempting a little southern humor, but actually ya'll is (you all),not you AND all.For example:the hoity-toity southerners would say:You all come back soon, and the common folk (like me) would say ya'll come back soon. :)
11/17/2008 - yeah, but you're putting the apostrophe in the wrong place
12/05/2008 - So I guess all that is basically a "Yes" to the original question.

Skank
Can you ladies PLEASE stop dressing like tramps? It is not 80-90 degrees outside anymore (not that the temperature is an excuse to put your cha-cha on display....) So please..please stop showing every man, woman, and child your mammaries, your tramp stamp, and your desperation. And before anyone makes comments about jealousy (cuz I know it'll be done...) I'm a male. And straight. But sadly enough, Im getting down right sick of hos. (Fo' sho'.)
11/13/2008 - So you WISH you were a woman so you could dress provocatively!
11/13/2008 - I won't complain per se, but ugly girls dressing like this has got to stop...you know the type, has like 3 or 4 urban white guys (who are really from Madison county, but I'm trying to be semi-PC) flocking her, each using their BS lines trying to get her in the sack. She's generally wearing stuff that skanks would be wearing in a hip-hop music video from 1998, and either too large or too emaciated from meth use to eve come close to pulling it off.

If no guys are flocking her, it's cause she's walking hurriedly down the sidewalk, cussing and yelling at another on the phone, cause he's 1) cheating on her 2) using her drugs 3) she wants him to get her drugs and he's too drunk to do anything or 4) all of the above.

generally has bleached hair with highlights or permed and gelly (gross!)

but hot girls can do as they please, as can really any, as long as they aren't gross. ( I think however, with this, you either have it or you don't, not much in between.)

I think its funny overall. especially the ones wearing next to nothing during Ice Storm '08 (it's coming!) So over the top ridiculous!

11/13/2008 - Haha...yes, I do wish I was a woman. How did you guess? :) How did you draw that conclusion?
11/13/2008 - It's textbook.
11/15/2008 - Hahaha...I LOVE the comment about gross girls. But...I don't want to see attractive or NOT attractive girls dress skanky. There's no need to dress like a skank no matter what you look like.
11/27/2008 - I agree.
Ugly girls ( and guys for that matter) need to know their place. Styles get played out when a) everyone does it, b) ugly people do it and no one appreciates.

But still...pretty girls generally know what makes them pretty and will refrain from skanking it up all the time. (Unfortunately, this is not rule of thumb.)
12/01/2008 - um, you're kidding, right?
12/10/2008 - Is who kidding? Clarification may be helpful.
12/23/2008 - AMEN! You skanky hoes! Put some clothes on! You aint cute, you look nasty!

Ugh
I HATE Uggs! Why don't you just slip your feet into a couple of dog turds! They would look better!
11/12/2008 - Wow! That was deep!!!
11/13/2008 - My hate for Uggs is simple and pure.
11/14/2008 - You made me laugh with your reply to my comment, and I needed a laugh,so I apologize for my sarcasm.
11/22/2008 - I COMPLETELY agree!!! Uggs are the worst shoe EVER!!!! I thought the fad would have died by now, but girls still wear them!!! I mean isn't it obvious how ugly they are? There's a reason the are named UGgs!!!
11/23/2008 - When I'm going out I like to wear heels; something kind of sexy (while staying out of the "skank" category, of course). Uggs just seem like impotence inducers. For you feet. Turning even the hottest legs into "cankles."

All this Driving Stuff
It sounds to me like all the driving complaints are really because of people who are wrapped up in their own world even when they drive.

1. Driving the speed limit is courteous. I often drive over the limit, but I can't ask anyone else to do that. However, going the limit, especially on Georgia's windy two-lane roads, is the least you can do for the many other drivers who have places to be lining up behind you.

2. If you are going under the limit, use the right lane. It doesn't make any sense to have the fast drivers snaking around you, or driving in the right lane where slower drivers are entering the road. If you're not passing anyone or making a left turn within like half a mile, get in the right lane.

3. A corollary to (2) is don't pace people. That means if you are passing, don't take 20 miles to do it. Speed up a little for the pass instead of blocking both lanes. If you're not passing someone, um, why are you driving the same speed right next to them? You're frustrating everyone behind you and increasing the chances of an accident (by increasing vehicle density).

4. Why do Georgia drivers speed up WHEN someone is passing them? I can't count the number of times I've been riding someone's a** going 58 only to have to get up to 75 to finally get past them because they speed up when they see me passing. If anything, slow down to let the guy by.

5. If you're about to miss your turn, STOPPING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AND THROWING ON YOUR TURN SIGNAL IS NOT AN OPTION. Go to the next turn around point (it's not far, trust me). Again, something I've only seen in Georgia.

6. Right of way: learn the rules.

I can say this for GA drivers: when they're bad, they're not mean or aggressive. Basically, they're clueless.
11/11/2008 - Agree on all points.
I would add that the lead car that is slowing everyone down should speed up to the point where the car just behind them eases off, and then getting out of the way ASAP.
11/12/2008 - I would argue that the drivers who do number 4 ARE trying to be mean. Also, if I may add a corollary to number 5:

7. Turn your turn signal on BEFORE you reach your turn. Drivers and pedestrians need to know you're going to turn before you do so. Turning the signal on once you've started turning is pointless.

You probably wouldn't have missed your turn either if you'd let the drivers around you know what you were trying to do.

And yes, pedestrians need to see those turn signals. Do not honk at me while I have the light if you can't even be bothered to tell me which way you're going!
11/12/2008 - I once had a driver make a left turn from the right lane (scraping my car) in Marietta. When the police arrived his defense was, "I had my signal on."

Also, to the original poster, I say just because they have GA plates don't mean they ain't from Ohio.
11/13/2008 - 11/12,
Did they get off?
They should make an athens/georgia vent somehow of bad drivers, give license plate #s and everything!
11/13/2008 - No, but holy hell you just reminded me of something. That was in Cobb Co. and the cop wrote the guy a ticket and he had to pay for my car repairs. Cut to a few years later and the SAME thing happened to me in front to the tri delt house on Millage! This time the girl (who didn't signal and was on her phone) swung so wide that she was completely in the center lane. Since she was in the lane to make a left turn, I continued on straight. Imagine my surprise when she turned right, hitting my car. Then the Athens cop (who I think was Barney Fife) let her go b/c she cried her eyes out. That was like 6 years ago. I'm mad again.
11/13/2008 - pardon, that's 'Milledge'
11/17/2008 - I hit a guy once (I was 18, maybe 17 actually) barely rear-ended him (insert homoerotic joke here, for the unfunny readers) and he got arrested-he had like 12 license suspensions, a few DUIS, and his license was currently suspended.
a month later I got subpoenaed; he was suing me for back injury.
Insurance covered lawyer stuff, this idiot wanted $12k. FROM A TEENAGER!
He had had previous injuries at work, and in my opinion, he technically shouldn't have been on the road in the first place.

His hot shot lawyers showed up on the day of the preliminary hearing stuff. He did not. Case dropped.

Anti-Obama camp
Those of you with facebook especially have likely seen tons of this. My personal favorite is 'time to move to Canada,' a country with universal health care and more gun control.
It is also annoying to see the Pro-Obama crowd rubbing it in to other peoples faces-we don't need that either!
It is extremely annoying to see how many people that will likely benefit from President Obama's tax plans complain about wealth redistribution.
That being said, I was in High School for the 2000 election, so I don't remember all the backlash on the liberal side, although I imagine it was almost equally bad, but it was also a different situation (the 'stolen election') so I think that may be justified.
I think it is very classless to be so hateful of a Candidate who promises to get things done, before he even has had the chance.
My utmost respect however, goes to McCain himself, for such a gracious concessionary speech, and his supporters whom are accepting their loss, and supporting our new president. This is what we need in America, and I am very proud to be an American right now, but I am disappointed in many people's immature and polarizing reactions.
With luck, Obama will deliver, and people's opinions will change. I could understand being this angry were he to promise to illegalize church, force Gay marriage on everybody, and take away the right to bear arms, but that is not the reality whatsoever. I think hiw administration will be one of good works, and get things done!
Let's all hope for it!

11/06/2008 - Once you've lost the freakin' race, what else can you do but be conciliatory? 24 hours earlier McCain was calling him a Socialist. Give me a major break.
11/11/2008 - I'll be one of those that "directly" relates to Obama's tax plan, but it's still going to screw me over in the long run. I just started working for a small business in Watkinsville, whats going to happen when that small business gets hit with even higher taxes than before? I've got a job lined up with the family business in Atlanta is the deal falls through, but most people aren't as lucky as I am....
11/12/2008 - 11/11 is a valid (assuming that 1) you make more than 250k/year, and 2) that Obama actually sticks to that, which I am hoping/assuming he will)) reason for disliking Obama/not trusting him yet. I however, am appalled at how many people are so mad/hateful about this.

I think that the internet has a lot to do with this; spreading of rumors, and it is a lot easier to see how other people feel, and people are more likely to use stronger language/feeling online, since they don't have to back it up with fisticuffs as one would in person perhaps.
Also, being a 'young voter,' this is the first Presidential Election that I've participated in that has involved a party Change (I was 2 weeks short of 16 in 2000)

High Voter Turnout!
http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0781453.html

According to the site above, preliminary info puts the voter turnout at 64.1%! That will probably go even higher since they're still counting in some places.
11/06/2008 - BTW, This was supposed to have a smiley face. I selected "Not everything in life makes me angry" but still got a frown.

Athens Clark Country Police Department
Theft is on the rise in Athens, dangerous drugs are about as common as liberal professors, and drunk drivers are causing innocent accidents about as regularly as a good bowel movements. And yet my tax dollars are going to pay Athens LEOs to write tickets for people in our neighborhood who are parked in the driveway because their cars are not pulled all the way to the garage. My roommates have been parking this way for the 5 years that I have owned this house, and now they write my sister a ticket for parking on the sidewalk, along with, from what I saw this morning, about 15 other people in my neighborhood. Is that really the best way to be spending my tax dollars? How many people are going to be walking down the sidewalk in a neighborhood like mine at 3 30 in the morning (when the ticket was written). Seems like a huge crock of chit to me for Athens to generate a little bit of revenue from the lack of home games for UGA this month. Way to serve and protect ACC.............
11/04/2008 - it ain't your sidewalk and you can't park there. why complain if you've been getting away with it for 5 years? 'bout damn time somebody finally enforced that law, I say.
11/04/2008 - I have to agree with the comment above. How are people in wheelchairs supposed to get around with you parked on the sidewalk?
11/04/2008 - Word. See "crosswalk" comment below. Keep your cars in the road (stopped behind the stop bar) and off the sidewalks. But I do agree that ACC police go for easy money rather than tackle serious crime in Athens!
11/13/2008 - People with wheelchairs get pulled by 3 folks with a rope! That's how!
